Besides providing a fun way to navigate the open waters, paddleboarding tones and strengthens the stomach, arms, legs and back muscles. It can also help increase balance and do what all exercise often can - reduce stress. SUPGirlz's 90-minute introductory lesson teaches basic water and wind safety, as well as how to carry a board. The first step is paddling out onto the lake on your knees. Then, like a baby giraffe on his first paddleboard, you slowly learn how to stand up. The next step involves practicing various paddling techniques and getting used to splashing and moving around on the water. Once you've master the basics, extend your skills further with classes like night SUP, paddleboard boot camp or hula hooping and paddleboarding.
