Sunnyside Beach in Toronto.
Description
If your definition of wildlife refers to aggressive shoppers and temperamental commuters, it's time for a change of scenery. Today's WagJag offers city dwellers a dose of excitement: $25 for an easy paddle boarding lesson and rental at Sunnyside Beach from Toronto Adventures (a $50 value).
What's SUP, yo? Stand-up paddleboarding is what's up and happening this summer. Coast along the flat waters of West Toronto's Sunnyside Beach on a stand-up paddleboard (SUP) this summer. This ancient version of surfing is a particularly apt one for newbies, easily picked up in under an hour and not dependent on tide conditions or athletic experience to enjoy. This 90-minute experience begins with an introductory lesson by an experienced instructor who demonstrates proper technique and use of all gear. After learning to board, students are taken on a scenic guided paddle of Sunnyside Beach, followed by a playful skill-testing quiz about the area and some free time for exploration. Sessions are subject to weather conditions, but are generally available on all weekdays (or for an extra fee, on Saturdays and Sundays).
