Grab a passport and an adventurous buddy and head over to North Ridge Mountain Guides. Located in Twin Mountain, New Hampshire these two-day courses will teach you the basics before you climb Mount Washington. The mountaineering instruction teaches you the essentials of mountaineering including crampon techniques, self-arrest and basic rope skills. The rock-climbing course includes instruction on belaying, climbing knots, rappelling and basic rock climbing movements. All the technical gear required for the courses are included along with 10% off at Bartlett Inn.
Itinerary:
Day 1:
- $250 for a two-day learn to mountaineer and climb Mount Washington (a $530 value)
- $250 for a two-day learn to rock-climb and climb Mount Washington (a $530 value)

Itinerary:
Day 1:
- Meet at the North Ridge Mountain Guides base camp at 9am
- Fill out waivers and get geared up for the day
- Head to a local climbing area to learn all necessary skills, including crampon techniques, self-arrest, and basic rope skills
- Head back to the NRMG base camp to debrief
- Meet at 7am at the NRMG base camp
- Carpool to trailhead
- Climb Mount Washington, the Northeast's tallest peak (8.2 miles roundtrip, 8-12 hours)
- Carpool back to our base camp to debrief and say your goodbyes
