Description
The first pair of snowshoes were modeled after Frosty the Snowman's feet, which were actually just a part of the large snowball that made up his base. To get from igloo A to igloo B, barefooted people would roll atop a giant snowball and call it snowshoeing. Thank goodness shoemakers had the tenacity to innovate beyond this. Navigate the snow using highly modern methods with today's WagJag: $35 for an intro to snowshoeing lesson and tour on the Bruce Trail from Toronto Adventures (a $70 value).
Travel with ease over the Bruce Trail's scenic snow with a snowshoeing adventure that includes a pair of shoeshoes, half hour beginner's lesson and two-hour guided tour. The half-day trip begins with pick up at Toronto's Old Mill TTC station. Once you reach the winter wonderland that is Canada's famous Bruce Trail, but a mere 45 minutes away, so begins your schooling of snow-walking. As you traverse the frozen water, your helpful teacher/guide will offer insight on surrounding wildlife and the history of the trail. Snowshoers of all levels are welcome on this adventure - from those with feet that have only ever sunk in snowbanks before to those who float easily over flurries.
