Description
Looking for a fun-filled summertime activity? Why not take to the water for a two hour tour (a two hour tour): $12 for a two-hour boat cruise aboard Kajama, courtesy of Tall Ship Cruises Toronto (a $25 value).
Featured on The Amazing Race: Family Edition in 2005, the historic Kajama continues its 12-year sailing stint from the Toronto Harbour. The three-masted, gaff-rigged schooner was built in Germany in 1930. It still sails in its original form, but now flaunts fully restored steel sides. Patrons prepare for aquatic adventures during a 30-minute boarding, then become pseudo sailors during the 90- minute day sail, getting the chance to help the crew raise and lower the sails via rope rigging. Scenic views of Lake Ontario, Toronto's skyline and the Toronto Islands are best enjoyed while sipping drinks from the licensed on-board bar or sampling fresh fare from the galley. In the event of rain, the crew unfurls a tarp to cover the deck and keep everyone dry. Though you won't want it to be, you'll know the tour is over when Kajamas cannon fires.
Kajama departs and arrives in the midst of Harbourfront Centre one to three times daily. Pre and post-cruise, check out the other great Toronto attractions like the nearby CN Tower, Steam Whistle Brewery.
