Theatre lovers of all stripes flock to the Stratford Festival every year to see a collection of preeminent actors, playwrights and productions that always draw a reliable stream of rave reviews. This year's event already looks to be a major hit season, bringing in significantly more patrons than in past years and featuring some well-known, beloved titles for the choosing.

The 2013 round of Shakespearean treats includes the tragic romance Romeo and Juliet and the darkly comic Measure for Measure, plus a referential tribute to The Bard in Taking Shakespeare, a new play by John Murell that uses the themes of Othello to bring a professor and student better understanding of both themselves and each other. The musically inclined can choose from classics like The Who's seminal rock opera Tommy and poignant working-class ode Fiddler on the Roof. Additional picks include Waiting for Godot starring Brian Dennehy in a spellbinding turn as Pozzo, and Blithe Spirit, Noel Coward's farcical stab at the afterlife.
