Description
It's time for today's piece of Canadiana: five-pin bowling was invented in 1909 by Thomas F. Ryan, a bowling club owner from Toronto who came up with the game after his clients complained the balls used in ten-pin bowling were too heavy. 103 years later, it continues to be played in every indoor alley in Canada. Roll patriotically with today's WagJag: $19 for one hour of bowling for up to six people at Georgian Lanes (a $43 value). Shoe rentals for all the players are included in the deal.
Located in Parry Sound, Georgian Lanes exclusively offers five-pin bowling, from 7pm to 11pm on Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday and from 1pm to 5pm Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Come in for a fun-filled afternoon with family members or gather a group of friends together for a Saturday afternoon or night of glow in the dark rock 'n' bowl, where the tunes are played as loudly as the crashing of the pins.
For avid bowlers, Georgian Lanes offers leagues for adults and kids six to 18. The youth bowling league is headed by certified coaches and instructors. Birthday party packages are also available, with or without snacks. Please call ahead to reserve your lane.
