What You Get
Description
Golf is all about highs and lows. One minute you're feeling the rush that comes with sinking a long birdie putt and the next you're cursing under your breath as you look for a lost ball. Ride the emotional rollercoaster we call golf with a WagJag at Heritage Hills Golf Club: $63 for 18 holes of golf for a twosome plus two buckets at the driving range (a $126 value).
Highlights of the Course
Covering part of a 183-acre property, Heritage Hills Golf Club unfolds into 6,800 yards of rolling hills and well-maintained putting greens and fairways. Along the course, you'll also meet with 83 sand traps and water hazards, which can be extremely challenging to play yet quite pleasant to look at. To take a gander at the grounds, join the virtual tour here.
Tips for Success on the Greens
Beware of tricky par 3s to challenging par 5s, particularly at hole 15, which is the shortest par 5 but definitely not the easiest. If you want to get on the 50-yard-deep green in two shots, Heritage Hills recommends extreme accuracy from the tee along the well-bunkered fairway. Players aiming to get there in three shots ought to take a tee shot towards and short of the left bunker to allow for the largest margin of error. For detailed pointers on how to handle each hole, check out the website.
Club Comforts
To cater to both beginners and those long-time A-gamers, the course has four sets of tee decks. A driving range lets players work out any kinks before hitting the links, while a popular snack bar with cold bevvies and daily lunch specials helps them refuel after the game. During peak season, BBQ fare is served from the outdoor patio and tent.
To Please the Golfer's Palate
Hearty golfer's grub, like the Montreal smoked meat sandwich, meatball sub, or chicken fajitas, provide a reward for shooting under par, or a source of comfort after a tough loss.
Getting to these Links
... requires just a hop, skip and jump from Barrie's downtown core. If you're coming from Muskoka, it won't take you but 40 minutes on Highway 93.
