Seven Ways to Spend October, Ranked From Pumpkins to Pure Panic

Michelle Milligan · October 7, 2026 · 6 min read

Halloween is 24 days away. That's about three and a half weekends, and one of them belongs to Thanksgiving. If a corn maze or a haunted house is on your list this year, it's time to start booking.

We've rounded up seven of the best fall deals on WagJag right now and lined them up from gentlest to most terrifying. Families with little ones can start at the top. Anyone who wants to scream in the woods can skip straight to the bottom.

1

BooFest at Cloverdale Mall

Toronto (Etobicoke)
Fright level1 / 5 · Mild
Fright level 1 out of 5

BooFest is Halloween with the scary parts taken out. Think carnival rides, games, a corn maze, treats and a parade of tiny superheroes. It's built for kids around 2 to 12, and it runs during the day, so bedtime stays intact.

When

October 17, 18, 24 and 25, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. You'll pick your date at checkout, and the voucher only works for that day.

Good to know

The deal comes with two ride bracelets, not four, so extra riders will need their own bracelets on-site. The 3D Haunted House is at BooFest's Vaughan location, not this one. Parking is free and the venue is wheelchair accessible.

2

Halloween Nights of Lights + Pumpkinville

CF Sherway Gardens, Toronto (Etobicoke)
Fright level1 / 5 · Mild
Fright level 1 out of 5

More than 1.5 million lights, new light scenes and plenty of photo spots, right in the west end. Add Pumpkinville and you've got midway rides, carnival games, seasonal food, live entertainment and more than 15,000 real pumpkins. New this year: a mechanical bull and games yard, live performances, and nights with trivia, line dancing and pumpkin decorating.

When

Wednesdays and Thursdays only: October 8, 15, 21, 22, 28 and 29. The deal expires October 29.

Good to know

The family pass works out to $12.50 a person, and the friends pass covers four adults for $55. Your voucher is only good for the option you bought, and its full value has to be used in one visit.

3

Hanes Corn Maze

Dundas
Fright level1 / 5 · Unless you get lost
Fright level 1 out of 5

Hanes has been growing a 20-acre corn maze for more than 25 years. If the big one feels ambitious, there's also a mini maze and a sunflower maze. Between mazes, kids can feed the farm animals, ride the pedal karts and work through the playgrounds, swings and sandbox. Wear shoes you don't mind getting muddy.

When

Monday to Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., until October 29. Holiday Mondays are excluded, so Thanksgiving Monday (October 12) is out.

Good to know

Weekdays only makes this a natural fit for a PA day. Your pass also gets you 15% off at Tiny Shop Bakery on the day of your visit, which is a strong argument for ending the trip there.

4

Rounds Ranch

Elmvale
Fright level1 / 5 · Mild
Fright level 1 out of 5

Every Rounds Ranch admission comes with a free pumpkin, which takes care of your carving plans before you even park. Admission also covers the corn maze and more than 25 activities, including the petting zoo, ziplines and tractor rides. A few extras cost more, so bring a little cash.

When

Fridays October 9, 16, 23 and 30 (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.), and weekends October 10–11, 17–18, 24–25, plus October 31 and November 1 (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.).

Good to know

October Saturdays stay open until 10 p.m. if you'd like to see the farm after dark. The deal isn't valid Monday to Thursday.

5

Pumpkins After Dark

Milton, Markham or London
Fright level2 / 5 · Spooky
Fright level 2 out of 5

Picture more than 10,000 hand-carved jack-o'-lanterns, lit up and arranged into scenes you walk right through. There are no jump scares here, just a lot of very impressive carving. It's the easiest pick on this list for a mixed group: kids, grandparents, a date night, or the friend who flat-out refuses to do haunted houses.

When

Milton runs until October 31. London and Markham run October 2 to 31. The deal covers every Wednesday and Sunday show, plus Friday, October 9 and Saturday, October 10. Those are the last Friday and Saturday dates, so weekend-night fans should book this one first.

Good to know

You'll choose your date and hourly time slot at checkout. Arrive no more than 15 minutes early. All fees are included. This is general admission, so the maze and haunted castle aren't included.

6

Bingemans Screampark

Kitchener
Fright level4 / 5 · Intense
Fright level 4 out of 5

Screampark is outdoors, partly in the woods, and runs rain or shine. Rain only adds to it. You'll make your way through six attractions with names that tell you exactly what you're in for: The Twisted Woods, The Crypt of Terror, Gateway to Hell, No Man's Land, The Blood Bar and the Slaughter Shed.

When

Thursdays and Sundays, plus Halloween night. Remaining dates are October 8, 11, 15, 18, 22, 25 and 29 (7 to 10 p.m.), and October 31 (7 to 11 p.m.).

Good to know

Not recommended for kids under 12 or anyone with a heart condition. The terrain is hilly and uneven, so leave the stroller at home. Parking is free, but there are no lockers, so backpacks and large purses stay in the car. Masks and Halloween makeup aren't allowed.

7

SCREEMERS at Assembly Park

Vaughan
Fright level5 / 5 · Terrifying
Fright level 5 out of 5

The big one. SCREEMERS is Toronto's original haunted attraction, with seven walk-through mazes and more than 120 live actors. Between mazes, there's the Midway of Madness (unlimited rides included), a Food Truck Eatery, and the licensed Vampire Lounge for anyone who needs a drink before going back in. The whole thing sits under a 15,000 sq. ft. covered tent, so the weather can't cancel your plans.

When

October 9 to 31. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday from 7 to 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 7 p.m. to midnight.

Good to know

Not recommended for kids under 10. Costumes are welcome, but masks aren't allowed in the mazes. Weeknights are cheaper and the lines are shorter, so a Tuesday visit gets you more scares for less.

Your October at a Glance

If you'd like to fit in more than one, here's a schedule that works.

Oct 8–11

Catch Pumpkins After Dark on Friday the 9th or Saturday the 10th, the last weekend nights on the deal. SCREEMERS opens on the 9th, and Rounds Ranch makes an easy Thanksgiving weekend outing. Want a head start? Nights of Lights is on Thursday the 8th.

Oct 13–18

Do Hanes Corn Maze on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, see Nights of Lights on the 15th, then BooFest on the 17th or 18th.

Oct 19–25

Book a SCREEMERS weeknight, or Screampark on the 22nd or 25th. Nights of Lights runs the 21st and 22nd, and BooFest returns on the 24th and 25th.

Oct 26–31

Hanes and Nights of Lights both wrap up on the 29th. Close out the month with Screampark on the 29th or 31st, or SCREEMERS on Halloween weekend.

You'll also find golf, Niagara getaways, comedy nights and dinner deals in there.

Pick two and book them today

One from the top half of this list, one from the bottom. Lock in your dates now, before the weekend slots fill up and the flash sale prices disappear. By November 1st, you'll have a pumpkin on the porch, a few good photos and a slightly hoarse voice to show for it.

Prices, dates and availability are as listed on WagJag at the time of publishing and may change. See each deal page for full details and fine print.
