Description
Prince Edward County is Ontario’s emerging wine destination that rests a short two and a half hour drive from the GTA. The area has developed an impressive culinary reputation in addition to its wine expertise with Executive chef Luis de Sousa at the helm. The Waring House offers fine dining in Amelia’s restaurant and causal fare and live entertainment in the Barley Room Pub as well as other inn attractions including a recreational cookery school, two featured artists in residence and a wonderful collection of Canadian antiques and fine art.
Your Accommodations
Traditional country inn rooms paint a picture of luxury amidst the historic surroundings of Waring House. The focal point of the property is a fine stone farmhouse, parts of which date back to the 1820s. The farmstead provides the heritage context for the inn, but the entire property is forward looking and environmentally friendly with geothermal heating and solar power in the lodges and many eco features throughout. For added visual intrigue, all rooms and common areas are furnished with Canadian antiques and folk art.
Food and Drink
Waring House offers one-of-a-kind cooking experience, where favourite gluten-free recipes or tips on wine pairing are shared in an expertly-led cooking class. Regional specialities and slow-food are at the centre of Waring House's cuisine, and the property boasts its own herb and vegetable garden. Prince Edward County is also home to market gardens, orchards, a cheese factory, one of North America's largest mushroom farms, organic foods, ice cream producers, a cidery, some exceptional wineries and great micro-brewery beer.
